AGI: Coexistence
Each year, Alliance Graphique International (AGI) proposes a “special project” for its members to contribute to. This year it is a poster to say “Coexistence”.
I collect dirt and sand from around the world. I’ve been collecting it for quite a few years, waiting for the right project to use it in. This is that right project.
The dirt comes from South Africa, Brazil, Argentina, Thailand, New Mexico, California, Georgia, the Philippines, France, Bowen Island, Galiano Island, and various other places I can’t remember right now. Everyone who has seen this mentions the Tibetan sand paintings. I’m not that practiced, and my sand is lumpy and uneven … and I can’t say I had Tibet in mind when I made this. Merely Coexistence.
It’s not glued down, and of course when finished and photographed, it is gone.
