Gardens (rejected)

I don’t usually show rejected work on my site, but I put a lot of work into this, and I really like it. Phaidon didn’t.

The challenge was that they were trying to represent a huge variety of gardens: large, small, cultured, wild, tropical, japanese, container, structured, rambling, natural, formal. So in order to avoid having a jumbled mess, I thought it would be a good idea to create sort of icons to represent the garden types, and then build a kind of uber-garden out of them for the cover.
